Searcys partners with Surrey vineyard to launch first own label English sparkling wine

The Classic Cuvée Brut has been made by Greyfriars Vineyard to celebrate the brand’s 175th anniversary

Synonymous with Champagne since it produced its very first own Cuvée back to 1893, renowned restaurateur, caterer and experts in all things fizz, Searcys has launched its first ever own label English Sparkling Wine to coincide with its 175th anniversary

The new Searcys Classic Cuvée Brut English Sparkling Wine has been made in collaboration with the award-winning Greyfriars Vineyard, near Guildford in Surrey and will be available across its 19 venues and restaurants including Searcys at The Gherkin, St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar, 116 Pall Mall and The Barbican.

Vibrant and elegant the non-vintage wine is blended from the three traditional Champagne grape varieties, grown on the south-facing chalk slopes of the 40-acre vineyard, which was established on the Hog’s Back at Puttenham in 1989.

“Our new collaboration not only marks the occasion but also celebrates the exceptional quality of wines produced in this unique area and, together, we’re proud to be putting Surrey on the map as a premium wine region,” comments owner and director of Greyfriars Vineyard, Mike Wagstaff. “Nurtured on the chalky limestone hills with the same geology as that of the Champagne region, our vineyards represent the very pinnacle of quality in the increasingly successful English wine industry – aligning with Searcys’ values on un-compromising quality and excellence.”

A toast to 175 years of Searcys

Sustainably produced using the traditional method and aged in cellars for over four years, the wine is yellow-gold in colour with notes of peach and zesty lime on the nose and aromas of green apples, freshly baked brioche and citrus on the palate.

The launch comes in time for the arrival of Searcys celebration signature Spring-Summer menus, pairing perfectly with new dishes including Portland crab with a citrus salad and brown crab dressing and pan-fried dover sole with capers, lemon butter and parsley.

“Being at the heart of events and celebrations since 1847, we are very excited to be adding our very first own-label English Sparkling Wine to the wine list for events across all our venues, Searcys restaurants and Champagne bars,” says Bruno Pelletier, drinks ambassador at Searcys. “What’s more, we are continuing to raise awareness and interest in Britain’s local wines and vineyards, supporting local businesses and practicing being more sustainable.”

The wine is available now for £58 per bottle across all Searcys venues, restaurants and Champagne bars.
