The Southern Quarter - the home of English Wine
With increasingly similar growing conditions to those in the Champagne region of France, the vineyards of Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire are leading the way when it comes to English wine and English sparkling wine production.
The Southern Quarter lives to promote and educate people about the wine of this region, how and where it can be enjoyed and the interesting people behind it. Welcome to The Southern Quarter – the home of English wines.
In 2021, The Southern Quarter launched The English Wine Diaries podcast, an interview series which talks to people in the world of wine (and beyond) about how a love of wine – particularly that made on British soil – has helped shape their lives and careers.
About Rebecca Pitcairn
Having worked as a journalist in the South East for almost two decades, first on regional newspapers and then magazines, I’ve developed a huge passion for all things local and uncovering hidden gems right on the doorstep.
On a personal level, I have always been fascinated by the work and passion that goes into making wine and how it has the ability to make food – and life – taste better.
After deciding to learn more about this thriving industry through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), I am now WSET Level 2 qualified and working towards gaining my Level 3.
This website is a marriage of both my personal and professional passions. I hope it inspires you to discover more about wine, particularly that which is made here in The Southern Quarter.
